Costa Rica offers ecoadventures for travellers year round. An exotic
example is during the months of August through October.
The awesome Leatherback, the world's largest marine turtle, comes to shore
to lay it's eggs. The female drags it's almost 1000 pounds slowly from
the ocean to a safe place in the sand. There it digs a deep whole with
it's rear flippers and deposits many eggs. Then it returns to the sea.
This process can take many hours.
Another species is the Olive Ridley which tend to lay eggs simultaneously,
so you can see hundreds of turtles on the same night. This primeval sight
will impact you and make for a definitely unforgettable Costa Rica adventure.
